It is an honour to serve as Chairman of the Labuan International Insurance Association (LIIA) during a period of steady growth and meaningful change within our industry.

The re/insurance environment continues to evolve. Regulatory expectations are shifting, and the nature and scale of risks are expanding. While individual companies adapt in their own ways, lasting progress comes from collaboration. In this environment, LIIA advances the collective interests of the market.

LIIA serves as the unified voice of the Labuan IBFC re/insurance community. Through close engagement with the Labuan Financial Services Authority, it presents members’ views clearly and constructively. The Association also maintains dialogue with Bank Negara Malaysia, the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, the Immigration Department of Malaysia, and the Ministry of Finance Malaysia. These engagements strengthen regulatory clarity, support sound re/insurance frameworks, and reinforce confidence in Labuan as a credible international centre.

Membership in LIIA offers more than representation. It provides timely insights, shared perspectives, and a platform for open discussion on regulatory developments and emerging risks. Being part of LIIA helps members navigate industry changes within a coordinated and informed community, which is crucial for managing financial and reputational consequences.
